Reiki is an ancient hands on healing art thought to have originated thousands of years ago in ancient Tibet.
Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Budhist monk, rediscovered it early in the 20th century.
The word Reiki is pronounced "ray-key". It comes from the Japanese "rei" meaning universal and "ki" meaning life force,
the natural energy which flows through and animates every living thing.
Reiki healing energy goes to where it is needed most whether this be on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level.
After a treatment the recipient may feel relaxed and have feelings of peace, security and well-being.
A Reiki treatment usually lasts about an hour with the recipient lying fully clothed on a massage table.
A standard treatment includes hand positions around the head, shoulders, stomach, legs and feet.
The hands can be placed directly in contact with the person or the treatment can be given with the hands a
few inches away from the body.
Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including drugs,
surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative care and will improve.
